A sketch of a memory, with Étienne Trouvelots observed pastel drawing - ‘The November Meteors’ in mind. Astrophotography was only just emerging in the mid 19th century and in the words of Trouvelot it was ‘so blurred and indistinct that no details of any great value can be secured’. Lately on my mind is the journey from observation, through memory and then to documentation and the details picked up, transformed or left behind on the way.
